Wall Paintings!

The pictures you see on the right are wall paintings made by my bro n me (primarily by the former :))

They are life sized and made by hand!! I'll explain the method used and you can use it to create own masterpiece. If you think you need great artistic talents to pull this off, then you are wrong. Trust me if i could do it, then so can you! :)

The process:

1. Take a black and white printout of the image that you want to paint on a transparent A4 plastic sheet. (The one we guys used in between our BTech Project reports.)

2. Choose an appropriate wall where you want to paint it.

3. Use anything u can get from which you can hang (or make it stand) the picture at a resonable height (waist high would be fine) at a distance of about 3 feet from the wall.

4. Take a bulb and put in a box (a shoe box would do fine.) Make a small hole at one end of the box through which you can get a point light.

5. Darken the room and place the light behind the picture so that you get its image on the wall!

6. Use a pencil and outline the picture.

7. Remove the whole apparatus and now colour it up!!

Here I have showed a couple of drawings I have done, as i make more I'll upload their pictures here!

If anyone does follow these steps or has any improvements then please mention it in the comments

Enjoy !

The poem game ..

Its this game I played once with a friend of mine. The rules are pretty simple and the result is quite colorful. All you have to do is write a poem; you write one line then the other person writes the next line and so on.. So the next time you are getting bored in office use gtalk to get poetic!

Here is our result,(All good lines and big words are hers :))

~~~~~~~~~ The Rising ~~~~~~~~~
In horrors of darkness, bright sunlight evades,
Bursting through the cracks darkness prevails,
The abyss of emotion this journey creates,
Trying to fill the void, but alas! Darkness darkens and doesn't vacate.
Lost in translation, fear engulfs,
Transcending through time, like empty skulls,
A feeling so pristine, nothing but, visceral,
Hoping with belief for life's a sabbatical.
From chthonic depths, rises the soul,
Beyond reason it searches for thee, thy light is what brings darkness to heel,
The powerful beauty unleashed on the world to feel,
It cleanses the aura making nefarious forces kneel!
Learning's of life, from darkness to light, is god's way,
Awakening the dormant spirit, from a world so grey,
Comes from within, it's the mind that's got to slay,
For a beautiful life, we have to live each day!
Salsa - My first class !
'Vem Magalenha rojão, traz a lenha pro fogão, vem fazer armação.
Hoje é um dia de sol, alegria de coió, é curtir o verão.'
Those are the lyrics of 'Hey magalena' , the OST of the movie - Dance with me. If anyone has seen that movie knows exacly what salsa is all about. Those graceful seductive moves performed on foot tapping numbers; it can be pretty alluring!
When asked by my cousin if I would like to learn the dance, my instant reply (very unlike me!) was 'yes' ! Soon i found myself in a medium sized room walled up with mirrors on all sides and a bunch of people chatting about. After customary hi's n hello's the class was called to order. I was asked to just see and follow, if possible. As music filled the room people formed groups and started moving in a synchronised and graceful manner, leaving me to just gape and move about as if i was a chicken caught in traffic while crossing the road!
What seemed like eons, the music finally stopped, and my grinning sister said the we will not be joining this group but a beginners one! Phew , i let out a sigh of relief and followed my sis to a corner of the room where few other people were waiting.
Pulkit, our instructor started explaining that salsa was basically a 4 beat dance comprising of 4 basic steps. You can watch this video below to see what its all about :
After an embarrasing half hour, (in which i realised that i have two left feet and wondered how on earth do i even walk!) i saved some face and picked up the first 3 basic steps!!!
I am still a long way before i stop looking like a clown, but I will keep practicing! I will also advice all you guys to give it a try, it's a lot of fun!
At the end of my first class I saw a small demo by a couple who both knew salsa and man it was B E A Utiful! Trust me this is one dance, you want to share with that someone special! So people who already have partners, get enrolled ! n others who do not have partners have all the more reason, coz u just might get lucky there ;) !
The Seagull Effect
'One flap of a seagulls wings would be enough to alter the course of the weather forever.'
The above quote is the origin from which the more poetic quote emerged - the butterfly effect which stated that the fluttering of a butterflies wings can cause a tornado in another part of the world ( i guess even scientists like dramatization!) , well I'll stick with the first one.
I would use an example from my life to prove the above quote. we'll rewind about 6 years, when we all were good boys (and girls) and were preparing religiously for IIT. Then luckily (or unluckily) I didn't reach the target I had set out for but scored a 393 in my CEE test.(note: not 392 or 394) . I joined NSIT - ICE and for the first six months, waiting in the hope that I might get upgraded to DCE comp by the next sem. But slowly I began to settle in that place and was having second thoughts of making a shift instead wanted to freeze my current branch. Thankfully (i guess!) I did not choose to do that and as fate would have it I was the last person to make it to DCE comp.
Then the first day of DCE arrived and i knew only one soul there - Kartik ! (We guys were together in FIIT-JEE) He introduced me to his group- vicky, anshul, saraf, shantanu! and not long i got to know a lot many others.
Like everyone else even my college life played a leading role in defining the person I am today, especially the friends i made during that time. So now when i sit back and think what if i had marked just that one answer from (B) to (D) in the CEE test. I wouldn't have met anyone one of you guys. Then how different my life would have been ?
PS: I have been a believer of the saying 'A man makes his own destiny' but as years are rolling by i am beginning to get inclined the other way.Maybe there is something like 'destiny' and our roles have already been written, and all we are doing is just enacting the script. (I know Anshul would def agree with that! :) )
